We went Dancing

Dancers

We went dancing at the Sydney North Festival!

Over the last two terms our DY dance group have worked very hard to choregraph and perform our concept of ‘Love Conquers All’. Our dancers auditioned in term 1 and students from Year Three to Year Six were chosen to be part of the group. This dance was a collaboration from all students. The dancers were given the opportunity to provide ideas or choreography to produce what we think is a very entertaining dance.

We drew inspiration from the Pixar movie ‘Elemental’. A story that introduces us to the residents of Elemental City, who are all made of land, air, water, or fire. Ember, (fire) originally thought that elements cannot mix (especially not fire and water) however, they overcame adversities and differences to continue her friendship and love story with Wade (water). Together they both saw the world in a whole new light and realised that love really does conquer all.

We are extremely proud of how hard our dancers worked each week, their resilience and patience they displayed was exceptional.
What an experience! Most of our dancers had never danced on a stage before… so to be able to adapt with the pressures of dancing with lights, audiences, smoke machines, props and so on was remarkable. We would like to take the opportunity to thank all the parents who dropped their dancers off each Monday morning for the extra early practices, as well as, organising a leotard and beautiful hair and make-up.

Congratulations dancers,
Monique Franks

Thank you to Monique Franks and Harriet Wickett for organising this creative and performing arts experience for the students!
