Stage 1 Science

Here's some Stage 1 Science!

This Semester, Stage 1 students have been learning all about the material world in Science. Students have enjoyed engaging in lots of hands-on activities during their Science lessons. Students have explored what happens when oil and water are put together, what happens when oil and detergent are mixed together (very surprising result!) and what happens when oil, detergent and water are mixed together. In another activity, students experienced mixing different dry ingredients together to make a mixture. They learned that a mixture is when two or more ingredients are combined together, but can be separated again, like in a salad. However a solution is when two or more ingredients are combined together and they cannot be separated again, like when you make a banana smoothie.

If your child is in Stage 1, please ask them what their favourite experiment was. You may even like to recreate that experiment at home!
